Sustainability
Environmental sustainability is essential in healthcare as it directly impacts public health, resource efficiency, and overall operational resilience. By adopting sustainable practices, AOMS can reduce pollution and minimize our carbon footprint.
Embracing sustainability in healthcare not only supports the well-being of the environment but also aligns with the core mission of promoting health and well-being, ensuring that we can provide high-quality care while protecting the planet for future generations.
With the oral healthcare sector being an important contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions, AOMS believes that the dental industry should be more adaptable to sustainable choices.
We have already begun the process by introducing sustainable scrubs that are made from 100% recycled products, crafted from plastic bottles and coffee grounds!
To further demonstrate, AOMS is participating in a Pilot program as a pilot healthcare facility for the ACSQHC’s “Environmental Sustainability and Climate Resilience Healthcare” Module. This pilot program will be used to better understand the current work of the healthcare system in addressing environmental sustainability and climate resilience and aligns with the work of the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care’s National Health and Climate Strategy.
